Brent A. Parker – AIA, NCARB
President
Brent Parker is the President of Parker Walter Group. He leads the firms design in the more complex building types, working directly in 3D modeling to develop accurate preliminary designs.
He received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Florida in 1973. He is a registered architect in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Texas, and holds a national NCARB certificate.
Mr. Parker became a resident of Sarasota upon graduation, commencing his internship. The following year, he took the national registration exams, passing all parts on the first attempt. In 1979, he joined a partnership, where he remained until 1982, when he founded his own firm, Parker Group, Inc. During those years he led the firms’ efforts, pushing it forward into the technology-based information age while undertaking a unique mix of projects.
He concentrated the firm’s work in the commercial and residential sectors. His firm completed commercial and retail facilities, retirement facilities, churches, banks and clubs, and hundreds of restaurants and some unique industrial projects. He has also led his firm into the multi-family markets, both workforce and luxury. Mr. Parker has also personally developed projects, as his own client, expanding his understanding of the client’s needs.
Mr. Parker is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He also enjoys other outside interests in technology, computers, investments and flying. He is a commercial pilot and uses his own aircraft in business travel throughout the eastern United States.
Thomas R. Walter – AIA
Vice President
Tom Walter received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Florida in 1973, where he was a classmate of Mr. Parker. He is a Registered Architect in Florida. Upon graduation, Mr. Walter interned with the noted architect Frank Folsom Smith and remained with the firm 5 years. In 1978, he formed Skinner, Walter & Britt, Inc., of which he was president and partner. Thirteen years later, the firm evolved to Thomas R. Walter & Associates, P.A. In 1996, he merged his firm with Brent Parker, forming Parker Walter Group, Inc.
Mr. Walter is a member and past President of Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He has served on the Florida AIA Board of Directors and has membership in the Southern Building Congress International, Inc. He has been an active participant on the National Teleconference on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and assists clients with their ADA evaluations.
Thomas E. Kelley, CSI
Senior Project Coordinator
With over 30 years’ experience in the AEC industry, Tom is vastly familiar with all the aspects of a construction projects’ life cycle; from the owner’s initial project conception, through the various architectural design phases, construction documentation, procurement, and finally construction.
While Tom’s primary responsibility is the production of the architectural construction drawings and documents, he is also responsible for the overall coordination between the architectural drawings and engineering consultants’ drawings. Tom also assists the architects throughout a project’s various phases with building code review, zoning code review, design layouts, redlines, assembling bidding packages, RFI’s, responses to AHJ review comments, submittal review and contract administration, as needed.
In 2015 Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana in order to have a better understanding and appreciation for the general contractors’ role and responsibility during a project. Tom is also a member of The Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and received a certification from Autodesk as a Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys investing and home remodeling projects as well as researching algorithmic and generative designs utilizing Dynamo, Rhino, and Grasshopper software packages.
Craig L. Trimmer, Assoc. AIA
Project Manager
Craig grew up in the area, splitting his time between the Suncoast and Space Coast. Early on he developed and appreciation for Architecture and Design while performing drafting work with local Designers and Engineers.
Craig graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Mississippi State University, School of Architecture in 2002. After Graduation he returned to Florida and interned for local Sarasota Architect Bruce Balk. He currently works as a Project Manager focusing on developing projects from schematic design to construction documentation and management. He received certification from Autodesk as a Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design.
Vicky Lee
Technician and Bookkeeper
Vicky has worked for Parker Walter Group as an AutoCAD technician since 1990. She focuses on fast food restaurants and new and remodeled small office projects.
Jonna Barnes
Architectural Associate
Jonna grew up in Finland and moved to the United States shortly after high school graduation. While living and working in New York, she attended college to pursue her Architecture degree. She received her five-year Bachelor of Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology in 2008. Early in her career, Jonna worked on multiple commercial, multi-family, healthcare and office projects located in Manhattan and Long Island, New York.
In 2015, she moved back to her home country of Finland with her family. In Finland, she had the responsibility of working for one of the biggest multidisciplinary design firms in the country, Sitowise Oy. Her projects consisted of interior design, hospitality, multi-family, religious, financial institutions, and other government official buildings. While working at Sitowise Oy, she worked as a leading architect and main designer in numerous renovation and historical restoration projects. As a service area director, Jonna oversaw architectural design in multiple locations around the country where Sitowise had offices. She also took part in marketing strategies and developing the company’s architectural services.
